Cambridge Bay, Canada, 2007: the crew say “cheese”
Nigel, the director and cameraman pose with their Inuit guides. This motley group spent over a week together, searching for musk oxen on the tundra of remote Victoria Island. Despite being larger than Great Britain, the island has a population of fewer than 2,000 people. The Inuit tracking skills were vital in getting the crew close enough to the musk oxen and Arctic wolves they had come to film. The process was pretty unpleasant though, spending several hours every day on the back of a komatik (sled) being dragged at high speeds over bumpy, treacherous ice. By the end of the week, chronic back pain had become the norm.
